Shaping, Cleaning, Sgraffito, and More

We carry the entire line of Kemper and Sculpture tools. Tools for every shaping, designing, cleaning, trimming, and measuring need and more.

Shaping
Ribs (wood, metal, rubber): used for shaping, smoothing and trimming wet clay on the potter's wheel.
Wire Tools: used to carve clay and sgraffito work. Heavy wire is used for the end of the tool. The tapered wire loop allow for variations in stroke width.
Wood Modeling Tools: a wide variety of shapes and contours for clay modeling.


Designing
Knives: used for trimming and to cut out designs in greenware.
Lace Tools: used for handling lace and also for cleanup and sgraffito work.
Sgraffito Tools: used for carving through applied engobes and underglazes in sgraffito techniques.


Cleaning
Clean Up Tools: used to smooth slip, cleanup imperfections and seam lines in poured porcelain, and for carving.
Sponges (natural & synthetic): used to smooth and remove excess water from wet clay on the potter's wheel and for special effects in applying glaze and underglaze.


Trimming
Knives: used for trimming and to cut out designs in greenware.
Needle Tools: used to trim wet clay on the potter's wheel.
Ribbon Tools: used to carve clay and sgraffito work. Flat metal is used for the end of the tool. They come in round, triangle and pear shapes. Pear shape shown.


Measuring
Calipers: used to measure diameters and thickness of clay and models.
Lid Masters: used to ensure quality fit of lids through precise measurements. Two sizes available.

Dipping Tongs: used for hands-free dipping of pieces into glazes. Various sizes and styles abailable.
Clay Cutters: wire or nylon is firmly attached to toggle handles and is used for cutting clay and separating wet clay from a bat or potter's wheel.
